(More customer reviews)Yes, it is great to be able to charge your Tom Tom from home. I discovered after I opened the box that the charger for my mobile phone, Motorola RAZR has the same imput connector as the Tom Tom Charger and also puts out 5 V DC.
Though the Tom Tom charger works very well, I could have saved money by just using the cell phone charger which does exactly the same thing. Now I have a spare.

Note to people who complain about the TomTom suction cup mount not sticking to the windshield: There is a lock and unlock position on the mount. I've never had the mount fall off the glass if it was turned to lock position.

TOMTOM GO 520 530 720 730 920 930 CAR FRICTION HEAVY DASH GPS Mount Review

(More customer reviews)I'd recently purchased a TomTom(TT)720 and decided I wanted a friction/dash mount for it to use on an upcoming vacation. You know, less evidence that we have a GPS unit and reduce the risk of having our rental broken into.
First I purchased a Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad which is a round, doughnut shaped, beanbag dash mat. While fine for other GPS units, it was not compatible with my TT720. The doughnut is just too thick. When you stick the standard short suction cup mount to it, my 720 could do little more than face almost straight up (okay, more like a 30° angle). At the time that I'm writing this, there is a customer photo that shows you what I mean at the link above. I considered keeping it and modifying it to make it work, but my wife convinced me that I should just return it and get a proper mount. I'm glad she did!
This mounting kit is perfect! This kit included both the horseshoe shaped mat/friction mount, and a longer (and better in my opinion) suction cup mount. The horseshoe shape solves the problem of the weighted beanbag portion of the mat getting in the way of your GPS unit and the upgraded suction cup mount is much more adjustable than the little one that came with the unit. The nonslip bottom combined with the weight keeps this thing stuck to the dash even without installing the "safety hook" that comes with it. When I park, I just put the GPS in my pocket and tuck the mount and charger under my seat.
Two things about the safety hook. I guess someone didn't think this thing was secure enough on the dash, so they decided they needed to add a plastic hook that you can (semi)permanently mount to your dash with double sided tape, just as an added precaution. First, we had a rental, so I wasn't going to mount this hook to it's dash. Second, if thieves notice the little ring left on your windshield from a suction cup mount, wouldn't they notice this hook mounted on your dash? Well, in any case, mine didn't move at all without the hook. You'd have to really be doing something extreme to get it to move, and if those extreme forces aren't coming from a traffic crash, then maybe you're doing some offroading. And if THAT is the case.. I'd bet you'd be looking for a different kind of mount anyway.
In short, I couldn't be happier.

TomTom GPS Dashboard Mount for TomTom GPS Navigators Review

(More customer reviews)After many hours of shopping for a GPS for my car I settled on a TomTom model XL 330 S. Being brand new to these navigation systems I didn't think I needed anything more sophisticated. I think I made a great choice and I'm very happy with the brand and model I chose. What I'm not nearly as happy with is the TomTom GPS Dashboard Mount for TomTom GPS Navigators I bought at the same time. It looks like it's made well enough, as it's heavy and substantial, but when you try to attach the GPS's suction cup to it to try to anchor the GPS to it, there is just no way! I removed the protective film that protects the surface on the mounting plate from scratching during shipment and cleaned the surface with an alcohol swab they include. I cleaned the suction cup on the back of the XL 330 and tried it again, no better result. I still am using the Dashboard Mount but now the plate which is attached to my GPS sits "under" the Mount as it is heavy enough to keep it from moving too far. A brick would serve the same purpose, but would scratch your dashboard and wouldn't look as nice. Then again the Dashboard Mount looks kind of goofy too. The Mount is not a good/wise investment. rob

TomTom Alternative Mount Kit (9M00.003) Review

(More customer reviews)The design of this mount leaves quite a bit to be desired.
The arm is not stiff enough, so the Tom Tom bounces quite a bit when driving on even relatively smooth roads.
The screws that hold the mounting plate to the arm are very small Torx screws and constantly work themselves loose. I will need to purchas a set of small Torx bits just to keep tightening these screws.
The suction cup mounting plate has a bit of 'slack' in the tension of the small rod that connects the cam to the suction cup. This also adds to the Tom Tom bouncing while driving.
Overall, I'm not very happy with the product.

(More customer reviews)I bought this, hoping to be the solution of the Easy Mount Port against a windshield that's highly angular and to put the unit within actual easy reach.
It does that. But there's also a peculiar way you must use this product with the new VIA line, and yes, TOMTOM has not seen fit to inform their users of this little peculiarity, nor provide an alternative mount.You have to take apart one of the plates with the cut out V (it doesn't matter which one, and put the ball socket into the now empty hole on the back of the GPS (you removed the Easy Port mount in step 1, leaving this little hole).
But if you're travelling on a rough road, at any kind of speed, the vibration of the unit makes it nearly impossible to view the unit. I have to put one hand on it to read upcoming directions.
That won't work well.
AVOID.
